Reference and troubleshooting

Keyboard and menu reference

These shortcuts describe the macOS app. Menu actions follow the active window and terminal; an open dialog can temporarily own or suppress a shortcut.

ShortcutAction
Cmd+PJump to terminal by name or tag.
Ctrl+Tab / Ctrl+Shift+TabHold Ctrl to cycle recent terminals forward/backward; release to select.
Ctrl+Option+Tab, with optional ShiftCycle recent groups; release Ctrl to select.
Ctrl+ / Ctrl+Shift+Next/previous tab within an open tag page.
Cmd+Shift+] / Cmd+Shift+[Next/previous terminal within the current group, including from standalone view.
Cmd+SView → Toggle Sidebar.
Cmd+1 / Cmd+2 / Cmd+3 outside the command selectorSelect All, Failed, or Running terminal filters.

Numbered shortcuts no longer switch tag groups; Cmd+4 through Cmd+9 are unassigned. Inside the saved-command selector, Cmd+1 through Cmd+3 keep their command-selection meaning.

Arrow keys move through a quick-search result list; Enter selects and Escape dismisses. Escape cancels the held recent switchers. The terminal and group switchers need at least two choices.

Commands

Shortcut or menuAction
Cmd+I; Action → Generate command…Open Command Assistant for the active terminal. Requires an idle shell prompt to generate.
Enter in Command AssistantSubmit a description or clarification answer; the resulting command is inserted for review.
Escape in Command AssistantCancel generation and close the assistant.
Cmd+R; Action → Run saved commandOpen the selector for the active terminal.
Up / Down in selectorChoose a command row; selection wraps.
Enter in selectorRun the highlighted saved command.
Cmd+1 / Cmd+2 / Cmd+3 in selectorRun the first, second, or third selectable match.
Escape in selectorClear a nonempty filter, then close when empty.
Cmd+.; Action → Stop commandStop active managed or visible manual work.
Action → Stop allStop work across terminals.
Tag menu → Start all / Stop allStart eligible members or stop that group's work.

Run choices are disabled during managed or visible manual work and during a start/stop operation. Section labels do not count as numbered command choices. See Running and stopping for foreground replacement and bulk-start rules.

Command Assistant inserts editable text without executing it. Press Enter separately at the terminal prompt when ready to run it. Plain Ctrl+I remains available to the shell.

Editors

Shortcut or menuAction
Cmd+T; File → New TerminalQuick-create an automatically named terminal.
Cmd+=; main sidebar +Open the full New terminal editor.
Cmd+E; File → Edit TerminalEdit the selected profile.
Cmd+Option+D; File → Duplicate TerminalDuplicate the selected profile.
Cmd+Enter in profile editorSave the profile draft.
Cmd+Enter in Advanced command editorApply only that command draft; save the profile afterward.
Escape in AdvancedCancel only the command draft.
Cmd+,; Preferences or sidebar gearOpen or focus Settings.
Cmd+W in SettingsValidate/flush Settings and close it; invalid command drafts can keep it open.

Plain Enter inside a multiline command adds a line. Settings autosaves valid edits, while the profile editor has an explicit Save step. A nested Advanced dialog owns Apply/Escape so those keys do not accidentally save or close its parent.

Terminal actions

Shortcut or menuAction
Cmd+/; Action → Go to working dirReturn a fully idle shell to its explicit configured directory.
Cmd+F with terminal focusedFind text in that terminal's buffer.
Enter / Shift+Enter in FindNext/previous match.
Cmd+Down Arrow with terminal focusedReturn to live output.

Terminal menu → Re-InitializeReplace the shell and clear output.
Cmd+QQuit, with confirmation when tracked work is active.
Help → Open Diagnostics Folder…Open this app instance’s local diagnostic records.

Ctrl+C belongs to the shell and interrupts work. Cmd+W in the main window is a deletion action, not a way to hide a terminal tab. Active-terminal menu actions are disabled when no terminal is selected or when the Settings window owns the menu context.
